Once a convent, school, and boarding house, this beautifully restored property is a character-filled retreat with soul, space, and timeless appeal. Originally built between 1927 and 1928, the Convent has witnessed nearly a century of local history. Following an extensive restoration, it’s now ready to host a new generation of memorable moments — with friends, family, and community.

The Convent Brewery is now open next door, serving hand-crafted beers and vibrant Mexican cuisine — the perfect pairing for your stay.

It was the perfect setting for a ladies getaway to celebrate a special birthday. It was clean and well equiped and the interior is unique and tastefully restored. The rooms are very cozy. Great Brewery onsite too.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Rutheglen Convent and it was an exceptional experience. The unique charm of this historic accommodation made for a memorable stay, blending comfort with a distinctive character. The rooms were well-appointed, offering modern amenities while retaining a cosy, inviting atmosphere. One of the highlights was its proximity to town, making it convenient to explore local attractions and dining options. Dealing with the caretaker, Gina, was an absolute delight. She was incredibly helpful, ensuring our stay was smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend Rutheglen Convent to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable place to stay.

Great place for any one looking for large group stay options. Has been renovated incredibly well to be super comfortable and with multiple great entertaining areas. Walking distance to the township.
Loved it so much that we are heading back with another group of friends in the coming months. Highly recommend

Hubby and I decided to check out the new Brewery in Rutherglen. Amazing!!! Didn't stay at the accommodation as came for lunch from Yarrawonga, but was totally amazed . The food is so so so good and the beer hubby was extremely impressed, as for my self had a Margarita 🍹. So if your into Mexican food and drinks, I recommend that you try this you won't regret it.

What a special and unique experience! A few friends and I stayed here for the Rutherglen Winery Walkabout and it was truly magnificent. Perfectly located with every amenity under the sun, we were well taken care of. A view from every angle it really felt like you were a part of history. We will be back next year!

I hired the place so that my children and grandchildren could all be in the one place. There were 12 kids and it was a great experience. The children loved it, the adults loved it and best of all there was always something happening somewhere. You get lost in the place. Its rare to find a building that will accommodate us all.

We're a mob of 16 friends who self-cater when we go away. The Convent was perfect for us. The facilities, both kitchen and dining, were perfect for cooking for a group, and long lazy meals. Bike riders, walkers golfers, wine tasters, it was all in easy distance. We had a lot of fun learning about the history, not just from the booklet but also chatting to the local priest just down the road. Many memories for those educated in the Catholic system, especially boarders! Great value and very comfortable, we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Had our wedding here on the weekend it was the perfect place for 2 families to come together under one roof. What an absolutely stunning venue. So many great photo opportunities and places to socialise.
It has all the modern comforts and keeps its heritage charm.
Gina and the team were amazing from the start with exceptional communication and understanding of what we wanted to achieve. They helped our wedding and weekend run perfectly and we can not be more grateful for the privilege of getting married here.

Beautifully restored as a B&B, Rutherglen Convent is the perfect setting for a a special event. I’m here today for a friend’s milestone weekend birthday party- the theme is all things roses 🌹 🥀

Spacious yurts set up for weekend guests just steps from the convent’s kitchen. A bit drizzly today, but the convent offers lots of cover outdoors.

The bedrooms are comfy, featuring queen-sized beds and a couple of bunk rooms. The shower and toilets are right down the hall!
